A Boudoir Photo Shoot with Madi

Kate shares the story of Madi’s boudoir session, from a photographer’s perspective.

Madi put into words my utmost goal for my clients: making them “feel safe, seen, beautiful and confident!”  Here’s my perspective on the boudoir session I had with Madi.

Google Review by Madi Schilling which says "I highly recommend booking with Katie! She's Amazing! She's so kind and sweet. She makes you feel safe, seen, beautiful and confident!

When Madi walked in my door, I could feel nervousness. She greeted me with a radiant smile, but I could tell she was definitely feeling timid about what was about to partake! I took her back into the guest suite where our clients put their belongings and get their hair and makeup done. Rachel, our amazing hair and makeup artist, greeted her with a warm welcome.  I listened as they quickly got to know one another, having a lot in common, both working in the beauty industry. There was a lot of talking and a lot of laughs as Rachel perfected Madi’s hair and makeup. Rachel has a way of making our clients feel at home, as she works her magic on them, and it was no different for Madi.

Madi’s transformation was stunning! I could feel her confidence had been lifted already, and we were just getting started. I had Madi show me what lingerie and items she brought, She did a wonderful job bringing a variety of items to wear for her session. I could hear the hesitation in her voice as we got closer to starting, but the excitement was now outweighing the nervousness. We discussed which items were must haves, and decided on which set of lingerie to start in.

I then left the guest suite, and went into the studio to make sure I had everything prepped while Madi changed. I heard “I’m ready!” and I looked up. I swear she walked out glowing, but I could still feel the timidness in her presence.

We started with a simple pose. I climbed on the bed to show her just how she was doing to start. “Middle of the bed, on your knees, one hand on your hip and the other hand in her hair. Chin out, not up. Look right at the camera, now little smirk, and how about a big smile now. Now look to your left, and give me that smirk again. Close your eyes, take a deep breath.”

As I guided her through each pose, I felt her tension melting. From placing her fingers, to pointing her toes, to arching her back, I showed her exactly what to do. From a serious look, to a little smirk, to a big smile, you could just feel her believing in herself. She quickly caught on to the repetitive necessities that made her images turn out beautifully.

Before she knew it, we had been through multiple sets and multiple outfits, even some implied nudes and body-scapes. Almost 2 hours had flown by, and it was time for her to take a break and allow me to work on her images. She got dressed, and wandered around Noblesville’s amazing town square’s stopping in a couple of boutiques and grabbing a drink at Noble Coffee & Tea while I prepped her images for the great reveal.

She got back just in time for me to bring up her images on the tv to present them to her. I shared a slideshow of her images. My favorite part of the day is watching clients see themselves for the first time, through my eyes. Her smile slowly got bigger and bigger, and I would hear “Ohhh, I like that one a lot”…. and “Ohhh, that one too!” And she couldn’t stop saying “Ohhh, my husband is going to love that one!”

Seriously. This is my FAVORITE part. To see a woman, see herself, in a way she never has before. Safe, seen, beautiful, and confident. That’s exactly what I set out to do. I want every client to feel safe, seen, beautiful and confident. I want every client to say “Ohhhh, I like that one a lot!”

I guided Madi through choosing the products & images to purchase based on everything we had talked about all day. And just like that, it was time for Madi to go. I felt overwhelmed with gratitude and joy getting to fulfill my purpose by empowering yet another woman. It sounds cliché, but we hugged knowing a new found friendship had been formed. As Madi walked out my door, I could see a little pep in her step that she didn’t have before.

I am so blessed that I was chosen to help empower other women through the art of boudoir photography. My goal is for every session to go just like Madi’s did. I want everyone that comes into my studio to feel safe, seen, beautiful, and confident. And that every woman walks out of my studio feeling a little stronger than when she walked in.

Love, Kate - Gold
